Nothing really new here. Just another technique.
By taking advantage of the vector effects in IE 4
I can fly in a vector outline of an image.
Then fade up the actual raster (jpg) image behind it.
Its a nice compromise between flying in a jpg (which is
impossible) and having to deal with the aliased edges of a vector.
I created the vector image using
Adobe Streamline from the orginal
jpg image. As you can see Streamline
produces crude vector images at best.
I'd recommend creating the orginal image
in Illustrator exporting it and taking
another version to Photoshop to be
rasterized and given more detail.
